Liberty extended its winning streak to 28 games with a 6-0 shutout of the Minutewomen before flying to North Dakota to complete their fall schedule.
"We weren't happy with yesterday, so we went in and we talked with them, and the girls did a great job of answering today," Lady Flames Assistant Coach Mike Morrison said. "They came back, they came out ready to play, and they were ready to go."
Beauchamp, who moved into a tie with fellow senior forward Tristan Craig for seventh place among the team's scoring leaders, was complemented by five other goal scorers, starting with sophomore forward Presley Ellis, who finished Beauchamp's assist just 1 minute, 36 seconds after the opening faceoff.
"Our forecheck created a lot of opportunities today, and it was really good to see a lot of our girls score," Morrison said. "When you can stretch the bench like that and score goals from a lot of people, that's a good sign."
He said Head Coach Chris Lowes and Assistant Coach Frank Keating changed some of the line combinations to create new chemistry.
"They mixed up some of the centers and wingers," Morrison said. "(Keating) has been working on that, looking at different options. It's early in the season, so we're trying to see what might be our lineup at nationals. We're trying things now and seeing who works best together."
"Maybe that was part of it, too," he added. "That gave them a little bit of a spark, after a little bit of a call-out from yesterday. The girls played with passion today and that was a big difference."
He said the line of graduate forwards Isobel Pettem-Shand and alternate captains Haley Battles and Zosia Adamek was especially effective.
"I told Battles at the end of the game, 'You guys look like a bunch of Energizer bunnies out there,'" Morrison said. "They kind of just went, went, went, and they just buzzed everywhere."
Junior forward Sienna McClinchey doubled the lead to 2-0 with 2 seconds left in the first period, finishing feeds from sophomore forward Brooke Olson and senior defenseman and alternate captain Emerson Oakes.
Beauchamp scored her first goal less than two minutes into the second period off assists from junior forward Ellie Sarauer and graduate defenseman Sammy Peebles. Liberty scored twice midway through the second period as Sarauer extended the lead to 4-0 by putting away passes from Ellis and Beauchamp before junior defenseman Sophia Adamek capitalized on the Lady Flames only power-play goal of the series, assisted by graduate defenseman Allison Shaw and graduate forward and alternate captain Zosia Adamek.
"We were 0-for-(4 on the power play) yesterday," Morrison said. "We watched film, we talked through things. We had the girls analyze it as well. We talked through it all and we just drew things up the way we wanted it and how we've been practicing it. So today they answered the bell. They came back and they were much more productive today on the power play."
Finally in the third period, Beachamp capped the scoring with a power putback deep in the right crease that she lifted top-shelf, after an initial shot from the point by Shaw.
Senior goalie Alex Keith made 17 saves to post her sixth shutout of the season, after allowing four goals in a series sweep of Maryville last weekend at home in a rematch of last season's national championship final.
"Keith is a senior, she's a vet, she's playing confident, she's playing consistent," Morrison said. "It's important to have her in the net because the team's playing well in front of her as well."
For the second day in a row, Liberty dominated in the shot department, outfiring the Minutewomen 49-17, launching more shots on goal in the second period (24) than UMass had in the game.
Liberty committed just one penalty.
"We were really disciplined," Lowes said.
The Lady Flames (18-0) will conclude their fall semester next weekend with a three-game road trip to North Dakota, where they will face No. 4 Minot State on Friday and Saturday at 4:45 p.m. (EST) and No. 10 Jamestown on Sunday at 11 a.m. (EST).
"That will be a great one up there," Morrison said. "We've got three tough road games. That's hard. We're excited though, to see how we compete against teams like that. It will be a really good weekend."
He said the team, which has now won 28 consecutive games including a 10-game streak to end the 2024-25 season that culminated with their seventh national title, is striving to maintain consistency in their practices and games.
"Our motto in the locker room is 'Intensity, discipline, execution,' and we've got to keep hitting on all of those," Morrison said. "That's so important. We want to create the buzz, the consistency, play the same against every team."
