Daniel Flaherty started playing hockey at the age of 4 years old. He started out playing street in Gloucester Township as a defenseman. He saw the goalie walk out in all his gear and said to his father, "I want to be that guy". From then on Dan played goalie. He continued to play street hockey until the age of 13. Then he switched ice hockey. His parents took him to Hollydell Ice rink Sewell, New Jersey. His first time on the ice was at goalie clinic. He fell in the game from that point forward. Dan went on to play three years of travel ice hockey and three years of varsity high school hockey. He came to liberty not knowing if would make the team or not. He just trusted that God's plan was him to come to Liberty. God has blessed him with four great years at liberty and four great years of hockey.
