Liberty will host its Men’s Select Prospect Camp next Wednesday through Friday at the LaHaye Ice Center.
This week's Rock the Rink podcast episode recaps last month's ACHA Men's and Women's and AAU Men's National Championships — including the first tournament title in program history for the DIII men — and focuses on offseason acquisitions and preparations for Liberty University's five programs to compete at even higher levels next season.
Annie Cory, broadcast producer for Liberty Broadcast Experience (LBX), hosted the show with commentary from Club Sports Director of Video & Media Patrick Strawn. Club Sports Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance Chris Kerr, and Division II women's hockey Assistant Coach Justin Forth.
After putting on its Women's Select Prospect Camp last week, Liberty will be hosting its Men's Select Prospect Camp next Wednesday through Friday at the LaHaye Ice Center. More than 50 participants born in 2008 or earlier, many with Junior Hockey experience, are registered for the event that will help identify potential recruits for the DI, DII, and DIII teams.
"It will be all hands on deck for our coaches and staff," Liberty Recruiting Coordinator Brett Berthiaume said. "We have a bunch of prospects on the radar, and we want to continue to see them play and get to know them as players and people. We also want to get a really good look at the younger guys, who have more time for growth and development."
He said the teams are targeting players who are good matches for the program's culture and the university's mission.
"Each of our teams are filled with guys who can play hockey and are great culture fits for our program," Berthiaume said. "We want the total package. The goal is we want all our teams to flourish with players that we can develop as men at each level."
