On Saturday in Hershey, Pa., Liberty University's Synchronized skating team placed second overall against five other collegiate programs and one independent club team in the Eastern Sectional Championship.

Mirror Images, an independent team of collegiate alumni. placed sixth, and Princeton landed in seventh in this competition, as scored by a panel of seven judges.
Liberty improved on its fall semester-ending third-place performance out of seven programs at the Nov. 22-24 Boston Classic.
"They improved in their power and skills from the Boston competition to this competition, from last semester to this semester," Lady Flames third-year Head Coach Hannah Pulley said noting that team only had five practices together this month before taking the ice in Pennsylvania. "Even with having their Winter Break, and being home and away from each other, they were able to come back and perform extremely well."
The team also had the opportunity to spread God's love and kindness to people around and involved with the event.
"We did a lot of little things like planting seeds this past weekend," Pulley said, noting that they wrote a Bible verse on a whiteboard in the locker rooms and handed out "Thank You" cards to random volunteers at the competition. "Our focus is always on God. But it was even deeper this weekend, and He was really speaking to us through just little messages."
The Lady Flames had a large crowd of friends and family cheering them on at this competition, which was an encouragement to the team and enhanced their performance.
Liberty still has one competition left this spring, the Tri-State Synchro Skating event on Feb. 15 in Mentor, Ohio, where it will meet six teams it has yet to skate against. This will also be the last competitive skate for graduate Hailey Jordan, a fifth-year team member.
