Archers fine-tuning sights for Oct. 15-17 3D Nationals in Ala.

Liberty University's men's and women's archery team has been training throughout September at the 15-target range at the Liberty Mountain Gun Club in preparation to travel to Foley, Ala., for the USA Archery 3D National Championships Oct. 15-17.
"We should have a really good showing," Flames second-year Head Coach Ben Summers said. "We have a really strong team this year with a lot of new recruits and really good returning athletes as well."
Summers said his archers practiced independently over the summer to sharpen their technique for the fall outdoor, winter indoor, and spring field archery seasons.
"The university has been so supportive of us and I think being part of this team is actually helping people get through COVID," he said. "It's great to actually be out here. It's really beneficial for a lot of people."
Hannah Suber is especially looking forward to her senior season after being away from her teammates for nearly six months.
"It's so good to see everyone again after the summer because last season was cut short, so I'm really glad to be back," she said. "It's really great because archery is already a social distance sport since the whole point is being far away from things, so that keeps things easy as far as following all of the protocols that we need to."
"Our motto is basically, ‘Improvise, adapt, and overcome,' going through this year," added junior Connor Rothermel, the reigning USA Archery All-Around Men's Olympic Recurve Archer of the Year. "I'm really excited for this team this year."
