Michael Williams, a native of the Washington D.C. area, discovered his passion for hockey later than most, but quickly made up for lost time through dedication and hard work. His playing career began in junior hockey with the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes (USPHL Premier)Â where he developed a strong foundation in competitive play and team leadership.
Michael continued his hockey journey at Liberty University, competing for the Men’s Division 3 team, while also earning opportunities to skate with the Men’s Division 2 and Division 1 programs. His time at Liberty was marked by growth, resilience, and a commitment to excellence—culminating in a conference championship victory over Coastal Carolina in Spring 2025. His contributions helped elevate the Division 3 program, thanks to his relentless work ethic, attention to detail, and leadership both on and off the ice.
Beyond his collegiate career, Michael has spent multiple summers working with Townshend Skating Systems under the guidance of Graeme Townshend, former NHL player and skating coach. This experience allowed him to train alongside some of the most respected coaches in youth, junior, collegiate, and professional hockey, further shaping his understanding of player development and elite performance.
Now transitioning into coaching, Michael brings a holistic approach to the game—focusing not only on skill development but also on character building. His mission aligns with Liberty University's core value to develop Champions for Christ. He is deeply committed to fostering spiritual growth, integrity, and leadership in his players, striving to help them excel both as athletes and as individuals.
