A former National Dance Association championship team member while a freshman at Lander (S.C.) University, Kristan Ann Ware went on to showcase her talents as a cheerleader at the highest levels. After a three-year career with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, Ware resigned after being told that she could not share her faith, even though the players themselves were allowed to do so freely. Ware was also shunned for her stance on sexual purity, something she has instilled in her LU Dance team at Liberty. While reinforcing their spiritual foundation and developing her student-athletes both athletically and academically, she has encouraged the Lady Flames to take bold stands for Christ wherever they go as ambassadors for Liberty and the Lord.
She is thrilled to be working at one of the world’s largest Christian universities, with a team of young women who know that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and who desire to use them to glorify Him as they shine during intermissions and timeouts at various sporting events around Liberty.
The LU Dance team is training to eventually compete against other NCAA Division I schools in the National Dance Association (NDA) National Championships in Florida. Ware realizes it will take a tremendous work ethic as well as discipline for the team to achieve its goals of contending for a national championship, and she is looking forward to the journey ahead.
Ware, who also serves as a Club Sports academic mentoring specialist, has spent the first four months on the job implementing new fitness and agility standards and inspiring her student-athletes to balance their academic workloads while staying socially active and spiritually focused.
