2025-2026 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY DANCE TEAM AUDITIONS

Interested in joining the Club Sports Dance Team? Dance Team Members average 20+ hours a week between rehearsing, workouts and performances which is why it is imperative that all dancers be able to keep up academically. The LUDT performs at all HOME football games, select men’s and women’s basketball games, and in other various sporting events to include Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, with the Liberty University Marching Band and Indoor Drumline, along with serving in our community and participating in a yearly collegiate level dance competition.

As a Liberty University Student Athlete, Dance Team Member and Ambassadors of Christ, here is what we are looking for:

PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS

This round will consist of virtual video submissions. Please read all information below carefully.

Virtual Preliminary Audition Submission Deadlines: OPENS on March 17, 2025 @ 8:00 am and will CLOSE on April 04, 2025. NO Submissions PAST April 04 @ 11:59pm will be accepted. Please see the Preliminary Audition Information link below for more details. After your Preliminary Audition has been submitted and reviewed, you will be notified via email whether or not you have qualified to advance to the FINAL round of auditions.

FINAL AUDITIONS will be held on campus IN-PERSON on April 25th & 26th 2025.

If you have qualified to advance to Finals, a link to register will be included in an email to you along with ALL the information needed to participate in FINALS.

PRELIMINARY AUDITION - Virtual Video Submissions

Video Submission Entry Dates: 8:00am on March 17, 2025 – 11:59pm on April 04, 2025

Upload Information: After you register, you will be responsible for emailing the PDF documents below to clewald@liberty.edu with a link and/or links to your video(s). It is the responsibility of the dancer to upload their videos to a private YouTube channel, website, or platform of your choice and email the links to clewald@liberty.edu. Please do NOT attach video files in your email.

SUBJECT LINE SHOULD READ: First and Last Name Dance Team Audition (example: Jane Doe Dance Team Audition)
PROOF OF ACCEPTANCE OR APPLICATION TO LIBERTY UNIVERSITY: If you are currently an LU student then a picture of your LU student ID will suffice.
GPA: Include a picture of your most recent academic transcript (MUST include GPA).

Review Process: Videos will be reviewed in the order that they are received. You will receive a response by April 4th.

Video Submission Details:

ATTIRE: Fitted clothing of any color (shorts or leggings), NO exposed midriff, cleavage, or tattoos.
HAIR AND MAKEUP: No requirements. Wearing hair up or down is up to you, but just know there will be various technique skills required to be demonstrated.
Video Format and Requirements
- Please state the following in the beginning of your video submission…. This can be included in one of your two videos or in a stand-alone introduction for less than 5 minutes.
  - Name
  - Age
  - Where you are from?
  - What is your dance history?
  - Why you decided to attend Liberty University?

1. Solo Routine: Submit of video of yourself or from competition performing in preferably Jazz or Pom style.

2. Technique Video: Please attempt to demonstrate as many of the following required skills to the best of your ability. These skills are highly recommended to be part of the dance team:

Triple turns
8 turns in second into a double
Turns in second with a float
Coupe turns
Pencil turns
Leg hold turn

Required Jump Skills:

Fire bird
Calypso
Pop jete
Tilt jump
Reverse leap
Switch arabesque

Required Technique Skills:

Please submit links to additional video(s) (NO MORE THAN THREE) of a solo routines of your choice that represents your level of dance skill(s)

FINAL AUDITIONS – INVITATION ONLY

Date: Saturday, April 25-26, 2025

Cost: $50.00 – Link will be sent to dancers who have been approved, individually

ATTIRE: Fitted Fitted tank top (no crop tops) with 4-6” length compression/biker shorts of any colorclothing of any color (shorts or leggings), must have NO exposed midriff or cleavage, tattoos or nose piercings.
HAIR AND MAKEUP: No requirements. Hair can be up or down. Just know there will be various technique skills as well as dance combos performed throughout the clinic.
DANCE SHOES: Please bring jazz shoes, turners (half soles), or jazz sneakers. NO OUTSIDE STREET SHOES ALLOWED ON MARLEY DANCE FLOOR.
WATER/SNACKS – You are responsible for providing your own water/snacks if needed.
RESULTS: Results and all information from the finals will be sent via email.
