Liberty has now outscored opponents 41-5 after dominating former AAU teams UTampa 7-1 and USC 11-1.
Liberty University's ACHA Division II women's hockey team embarked on a 12-hour road trip to Tampa, Fla., last Thursday and returned late Sunday night with two more decisive wins under their belt, and their first two over Southeast Region teams.
The Lady Flames (4-0) dominated the University of Tampa, 7-1 on Friday night, and the University of South Carolina, 11-1 on Sunday afternoon in Columbia, S.C. Both opponents are ACHA DII newcomers after competing last season in the AAU.
Graduate forward and head captain Madison Natter started the scoring for Liberty against Tampa 7:04 into the first period off assists from Trish Misiak and Calissa Klein, who returned the favor just 2:14 later by finishing feeds from Natter and Misiak for a 2-0 Lady Flames lead.
Liberty's and UTampa's centers face off during Friday night's contest.
Moments after Tampa's Mia Moffit cut the deficit to 2-1 midway through the second period, Lady Flames junior forward and alternate captain Cora Williams added some insurance with the first of her three goals on the night. She extended Liberty's edge to 4-1 just over four minutes later before freshman forward Pim Wilhelmy, who had assisted Williams' first goal, started the third-period scoring with an unassisted goal at the 17:38 mark.
Williams completed her hat trick just over six minutes later off an assist from Natter before Klein capped the scoring just over six minutes after that by finishing a feed from freshman defenseman MJ Petisce.
Liberty outshot the Spartans by a 53-20 count and Lady Flames senior goalie Abby Manzewitsch made 19 saves to secure the win.
After enjoying some quality beach time on Saturday, Liberty competed its weekend road trip in impressive fashion with a 10-goal triumph over the Gamecocks. Williams netted another hat trick and Wilhelmy distributed three more assists to spark the Lady Flames' attack.
Liberty has an off weekend before taking another road trip to face DVCHC rival Delaware on Sept. 27-28.
