The Lady Flames, who defeated West Virginia, Robert Morris, Niagara, and Pittsburgh over Fall Break, will return to Pennsylvania for three more games this weekend.
Against the Mountaineers, the Lady Flames (7-0) had five different players score their first goals of the season, set up by five teammates' first assists. Liberty capitalized on two power plays in the first two periods before breaking open a 2-2 tie by scoring three unanswered goals over the second and third.
West Virginia opened a 1-0 lead when Caroleena Genco converted an assist from fellow forward Makenna Kelly with 9:02 left in the first period. Liberty responded quickly when sophomore forward Shirley Whitmore scored off a feed from junior forward Emma Bendrat two minutes later. The Lady Flames then seized a 2-1 lead just over a minute later on an unassisted power-play goal by sophomore forward Pimsiri Wilhelmy before the Mountaineers re-tied the contest on Genco's second goal of the game off another assist from Kelly and Kylie McKenzie.
Just 3:17 into the second period, graduate defenseman Kate Walhof netted the game winner on a power play, finishing a feed from junior forward Abigail Rogers. Freshman forward Hayden Siefert added an insurance score, her first goal as a Lady Flame. She put away passes from graduate defenseman Victoria Medina-Visceglio and senior forward Cora Williams for a 4-2 Liberty lead with 1:50 left in the period before Bendrat capped the scoring with 12:49 remaining in regulation off an assist from Walhof.
The Lady Flames outshot WVU 37-31, and freshman goalie Nicole Duenas Abin made 29 saves to earn the win.
Liberty then traveled three hours due north to Erie, Pa., where the Lady Flames outscored opponents by a 24-2 total over the weekend, starting with the 11-1 rout of the Colonials.
Against Niagara on Saturday, Liberty outshot the Purple Eagles by a 46-16 count, and Duenas Abin posted her first shutout. The Lady Flames tallied goals from sophomore forward Emma Bardwell and junior forward Calissa Klein in the final 1:05 of the first period, Williams with 1:23 left in the second, and sophomore forward Arianna Pastoor late in the third.
Waking early for Sunday's 8 a.m. finale against Pitt, Liberty shined early, netting three goals in the first period, two in the second, and four in the third. Whitmore recorded her first hat trick with one goal in the first period and two in the third, and Rogers scored once in the first and third. Single goal-scorers included Sabrina Honeycutt with 8 seconds left in the first period, Wilhelmy and Williams in the second period, and Bendrat with 42 seconds to play in the third, punctuating the 9-1 pounding.

Liberty opened its season on Sept. 25 with an 8-1 win over High Point (N.C.) University at the LaHaye Ice Center before sweeping the St. James Hockey Club's 19U squad, a Tier II travel program based in Springfield, Va., 4-3 on Sept. 26 and 4-2 on Sept. 27.
