Shotgun team improves on last season’s ACUI Division 3 national championship score, settles for third place

The Flames showed steady improvement across the board under the direction of first-year Head Coach Jacob Davis in San Antonio.
Liberty University's shotgun team placed third in Division 3 at this past week's ACUI Intercollegiate National Championships at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio.
The Flames and Lady Flames improved their total score from last season's first-place finish by 61 targets with their top five shooters in each discipline hitting 2,750 out of a possible 3,000 sporting clays.
"Many team members set personal records in a variety of events," Liberty Head Coach Jacob Davis said. "We placed first in Division 3 sporting clays, second in doubles skeet, and third in American skeet. Matt Daniels was also awarded All-American Second Team, and (fellow junior) Dalton Krossman was an All-American Honorable Mention."
Individually, Liberty's High Overall competitors, out of a total of 600 possible targets hit, were Daniels (561), Krossman (553), sophomore Nate Hagy (547), senior Zack Reaves (541), and junior Harrison Russell (528).
