Liberty University’s synchronized skating team saved its best performance of the season for last and landed in second place in the Collegiate Open division at the Reflection Synchro Open on Sunday at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa. The Lady Flames’ finish matched their showing at their fall semester-opening Terry Conners Open in Stamford, Conn., in early December.
“Our synchro skaters were able to give it their all at our last competition of the 2022-23 season,” Liberty first-year Head Coach Hannah Pulley said. “We will now continue into our postseason and strengthen our skating skills and abilities for the 2023-24 season.”
Previously, at the Eastern Sectionals Synchronized Skating Championships held Jan. 19-22 at Norwood, Mass., the Lady Flames finished in fifth place.
“We believed that we had put out a strong skate for where our team was coming into the spring semester,” Pulley said. “Over Winter Break, the coaches made some advancements to the competition program to make it more competitive … and we were thrilled to continue to work on strengthening our program for our final competition (while) cherishing some team bonding time at the mall and productive practices leading up to our competition skate.”
The Lady Flames will have an Ice Showcase on April 22 at the LaHaye Ice Center, where skaters from Liberty’s figure skating and synchronized skating teams will be showcasing their current programs and adding some new routines.
