Payton has been the head coach for Liberty’s Beach Volleyball program since the 2024-25 season. She came to Liberty in 2016 as an outside hitter on the women’s indoor team. While playing on the indoor team during the 2016-2019 seasons, she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. She then joined the beach volleyball team for the 2020-2021 season while earning a M.Ed. Reading Specialist degree and working as a Graduate Assistant in the School of Education. During her tenure on the beach team, Payton made history with her partner Jenae Baker, beating a D1 NCAA pair (College of Charleston) in Wilmington, NC.
After graduating with her master’s degree, she began working as a sixth-grade teacher at Timberlake Christian School in Forest, VA. Payton still currently teaches 6th grade and coaches volleyball at TCS. She has over 8 years of volleyball coaching experience at the middle school, high school, and national club levels.
In her free time, Payton enjoys playing in AVP grass tournaments and playing disc golf.
