Johnathan Willis, while serving when he can as the assistant coach for beach volleyball, works full time as the assistant volleyball coach for the Liberty Flames women’s program. He spent the last seven seasons (2007-13) as head volleyball coach at Randolph College in Lynchburg. In 2013, Willis' WildCats went 12-11, good for the program's first winning record since the 1997 campaign.
A native of Richmond, VA, Johnathan also spent six seasons, 2006-11, as head coach of Liberty's club men's volleyball program. The team went 20-8 in 2006-07, placing second in the EIVA Southern Conference. His team also earned a third-place finish at the NCVF National Championships in 2010. While a student at Liberty, Willis played on the men’s indoor club team, where he received all-tournament honors at EIVA East Coast Championships his last year playing. Willis graduated from Liberty with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2006. He then earned a Master of Arts in human services, also from Liberty, in 2007. He and Rachel are married with three young children, Aubriana, Asher, and Ace.
