Coach Medford has been with Club Sports in various coaching capacities since 2019. He started as an assistant coach with Bill Crawford coaching the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) team. Coaches Medford and Crawford combined efforts to win the SASP Collegiate National Championship in the Rifle Discipline in 2020. In 2021, Coach Medford focused on developing the pistol shooting portion of SASP, and in 2021 Liberty won both the pistol and rifle championships, a feat rarely accomplished in collegiate action shooting.
Coach Medford eventually took over the Action Shooting team for one year in 2023, competing in National Rifle League (NRL) and Precision Rifle Series (PRL) competitions.
In 2024, Coach Medford once again combined forces with Coach Crawford to help develop a collegiate pistol team, which is now in its second year. His extensive background in invaluable and includes experience as a former LUPD sergeant overseeing the firing range and training, where he taught general firearms safety courses. “I really enjoy the range,” said Medford, who also works as a system administrator in Liberty’s IT Department. "That’s where I’m at home.”
