Liberty outshot Rhode Island by a 58-7 count and broke the game open with a four-goal first period.
The Lady Flames (5-0, 3-0 ACHA) completed their three-game road trip with an emphatic victory, outshooting Rhode Island (1-1-1) by a 58-7 count and getting two goals apiece from graduate forward and alternate captain Brookelyn Beauchamp and junior forward Hayley Lee.
"It was a great game, following up on the two wins at UMass and playing a third game with a short turnaround," Liberty Assistant Coach Frank Keating said. "It was a great road trip to get us started for the season. Our ladies came out strong from the opening puck drop, outskated them, and kept the pressure on throughout the game."
Beauchamp netted her first goal of the contest just 21 seconds after winning the initial faceoff, passing the puck to freshman Evie McGonagle before tapping her return pass into the back of the net from close range.
"Our ladies came out of the gate firing on all cylinders," Keating said.
Five minutes later, Lee netted the Lady Flames' next two scores over a span of less than two minutes. The first came on a Liberty power play when she finished a back-door pass from junior defenseman Brooklyn Voortman off a secondary assist from graduate forward Allison Greene at the 15:22 mark.
"Voortman looked like she was shooting far side, and Lee tapped it into the net," Keating said. "That got us going, and she scored again by picking up a loose puck on a rebound after (sophomore forward Presley) Ellis fired a shot from the top of the circle."
Senior forward and alternate captain Tristan Craig, who scored twice in Friday night's rematch with the Minutewomen, contributed the secondary assist on Lee's second goal that put Liberty up 3-0 with 13:36 still to play in the first period.
Ellis capped the first-period scoring with a putback at the 10:38 mark off assists from senior defenseman and head captain Sophia Adamek, whose shot from the point was set up by Craig.
Just 53 seconds into the second period, senior forward Sienna McClinchey — who netted her first career hat trick on Friday night — extended Liberty's edge to 5-0 by tapping in the rebound of senior forward Ellie Sarauer's shot from the top of the circle.
Later in the period, Beauchamp scored her second goal on a power play by tipping in Voortman's shot from the blue line.
Then in the third, with just 2:48 remaining in regulation, Craig received a pass from Ellis in the slot and lifted her wrist shot into the top-left corner of the cage from 10 feet out. Finally, in the closing minutes, Adamek received a pass from Beauchamp off her winning faceoff and launched a shot from the point.
"McGonagle and (junior right wing Brooke) Olson set a terrific screen in front, along with the two defensemen trying to handle it, and their goalie never saw (Adamek's shot) that beat her to the top-right corner," Keating said.

"We had chances on the fast break, but hit the post a couple times," Keating said. "It was the dirty work down low that scored for us."
Junior goalie Emma McDonald made seven saves to post the Lady Flames' first shutout of the young season. Last year, Liberty shut out opponents 21 times in finishing 36-1-1.
"She didn't make a ton of saves, but she had to make some big ones," Keating said. "Four or five of their shots on goal were caused by breakdowns on our part, and they had a couple two-on-ones where she came up big on the saves."
Liberty returns to the LaHaye Ice Center to host the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Lady Flames shut out the Wolverines, 5-0, in the ACHA DI National Championships Final Four last season near St. Louis.
"They're a strong team, so it will be a great test," Keating said. "Our team jelled very well and grew a lot this weekend. We made some improvements, and we're going to continue to build on that as we go through the season."
