The podcast team details the selection process for incoming recruits as the DI men's and women's hockey teams bid farewell to large senior classes this weekend and welcome new faces to their locker rooms for the fall.
This week's episode of the Rock the Rink podcast highlights the new captaincy corps for Liberty University's ACHA Division I men's and women's hockey teams as well as their incoming classes of recruits for the Fall 2024 semester.
ACHA DII men's hockey Head Coach Ben Hughes, who also serves as the director of recruitment for Club Sports and as the director of the Varsity Club, joined the cast to discuss the recent Liberty Select Camp. This camp was directed by Recruitment & Summer Planning Coordinator Brett Berthiaume and benefited all five teams in identifying prospective players and introducing them to the Liberty Hockey community.
The panel, which is hosted by Rett McGibbon and Patrick Strawn with guest appearances from Club Sports Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance Chris Kerr and Liberty Champion outgoing Sports Editor Annie Cory, also discussed former Flames DI men's hockey defenseman Matt Cruickshank taking over as head coach of the Atlanta Mad Hatters' U.S. Premier Hockey League's Elite team, among other topics.
