Hunt Seat equestrian team runner-up to host Sweet Briar at Region 4 show

Liberty qualified Giulia D'Addesi in Limit Fences and Katie Staib in Limit Flat for the Region 4 Championships.
Paced by two more Region 4 qualifiers, Liberty University's Hunt Seat equestrian team placed second to host Sweet Briar College in Saturday's IHSA show in Amherst, Va.
The Flames and Lady Flames totaled 32 points to finish behind only the Vixens (38) and ahead of William & Mary (28), Randolph Macon College (26), Christopher Newport University and the University of Mary Washington (tied for fifth with 25), Longwood University (17), and the University of Richmond (13).
Individually, senior John Hutchinson finished first in Open Fences while junior Caroline Roberts won the Pre-Novice division. The Lady Flames had a trio of second-place showings from juniors Aliyah Hardesty (Novice) and Katie Staib (Limit Flat) and senior Giulia D'Addesi (Limit Fences). Staib and D'Addesi also qualified for the Region 4 Championships.
For the Flames, senior Lane Steffey placed third in the Introductory division while a trio of Lady Flames also earned white ribbons — junior Anna Rotter (Novice) and freshmen Abby Griffith (Intermediate Fences) and Sophie Battin (Limit Flat).
Next Saturday, Liberty will host an IHSA Region 4 show at the Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center.
