
Western team qualifies four riders for Region 4 Championships at NC State

Competing at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C., the Lady Flames improved on Saturday's team showing with three individuals qualiifying for regionals Sunday.
On Saturday, sophomore Alexandra Dixon placed second in Level II Horsemanship to qualify for regionals based on her accumulated points from last season.
Seniors Tiffany Walker (Level II Horsemanship and Ranch Riding) and Alexis Evans (Beginner Horsemanship) also placed fourth in their respective events.
In the team standings, Liberty finished fifth behind host St. Andrews, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, and Clemson.
Then on Sunday, Evans finished second in Beginner Horsemanship to earn her regional qualifying bid, and senior Amanda Mast finished third in Rookie B Horsemanship, and junior Makenzie Cox placed second in Rookie B Horsemanship to also qualify for regionals.
Meanwhile, Walker finished third in Level II Horsemanship and Dixon third in Open Horsemanship.
As a team, the Lady Flames moved up to fourth ahead of Virginia Tech, trailing St. Andrews, Clemson, and NC State.
Liberty will travel to Blacksburg for two more Region 4 shows on Nov. 16-17.
Before then, its Hunt Seat team will compete at Sweet Briar College this Saturday before hosting a show on Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center.
