Liberty improved to 6-0 at the LaHaye Ice Center with its fourth and fifth shutouts of the season.
Five first-period goals set the tone for Liberty University's ACHA Division II women's hockey team's sweep of Maryville (Mo.) University on Friday and Saturday at the LaHaye Ice Center (LIC).
The Lady Flames (9-4-1) dominated the Saints (4-5-1), outshooting their guests by a 55-8 margin in the 10-0 opening rout and a 51-18 count in the 1-0 rematch win as they improved to 6-0 at the LIC this season.
Liberty got goals from 10 different players in the two games with sophomore center Isabel Crossman — who moved into the Lady Flames' season scoring lead — the only player to score twice. She netted Liberty's first goal of the second and third periods of the opener, off assists from sophomore forward Guinivere Donovan. Donovan had scored the game's first goal 38 seconds after the opening faceoff, finishing a feed from Crossman by sneaking a shot past Saints goalie Bailey Gray inside the lower-left post.

Freshman defenseman Julieann Nye padded the Lady Flames' advantage to 7-0 with an unassisted score at the 12:04 mark of the second period. Gracia struck less than two minutes after Crossman's second score to start the third, finishing off an assist from Arfstrom, before freshman Kathryn Kornek capped the scoring off a feed from Nye.
Scoring shifted from feast to famine in Saturday's rematch as both teams were held scoreless before Degrazia netted the game's golden goal with 14:40 remaining in regulation. She took a fast-break feed from Williams and launched a shot from the top of the left circle that was blocked by Gray (50 saves) before Kornek redirected the rebound out of the slot to DeGrazia in the left crease for a point-blank putaway. Sophomore goalie Abby Hodsden (5-2) made 18 saves to complete her second shutout of the season for the Lady Flames, after senior Kylie Mebs (4-2-1) had stopped all eight shots by the Saints in the opener for her third shutout.
Liberty will begin spring semester play on Jan. 20-21 at the LIC, where it willhost Navy, which dealt the Lady Flames a 3-1 loss Oct. 27 in Annapolis, Md.
