Carrie Jickling ('16, '17) will be Liberty University's first representative in the ACHA Hall of Fame when it inducts its Class of 2021 next spring. The 2020 and 2021 induction ceremonies were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It was definitely quite a surprise, but an exciting surprise at the same time," she said. "I wasn't expecting it at all."
After leading the Lady Flames' Division I women's hockey team to its first national title in 2015, setting the table for three more crowns from 2018-21, Jickling still ranks No. 1 on Liberty's DI women's all-time scoring list with 137 goals and 104 assists for 241 points in 157 games over her five-year career, which started and ended with runner-up national showings. She was selected to the ACHA All American First Team after her junior and senior seasons and named the ACHA Off-Ice MVP in 2014-2015.

"Carrie Jickling was a player that as a coach, you hope you get a chance to coach," said Lady Flames' Assistant Coach Justin Forth, who coached her for all but her junior year. "Carrie's dedication to hockey and our program was evident every day. As a captain, she led her teammates on and off the ice. Carrie is someone who is fun to be around and she made others around her better. It was an honor to coach her for her collegiate career. Her personality and work ethic will set her up for success for any endeavor she takes on in life."
A three-year head captain at Liberty from 2014-17, Jickling graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration — Human Resource Management and her Master of Business Administration and currently works as an operations auditor for an IT consulting company in Denver.
"That is right up my alley and I love it," said Jickling, who has enjoyed living out West after growing up in Alberta, Canada, which is still at least a 15-hour drive away. "You get the best of both worlds, with hockey around and quite a few rinks in the Denver metro area and so much to do outdoors, so much to see and do, it is just a fun place to be, no matter what season it is."
She can attend NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche in town, and stays active in the sport herself, playing in a men's hockey recreational league once or twice per week year-round. Additionally, she has taken up dirt bike riding and hiking in the Rockies, having climbed three of Colorado's 58 peaks that exceed 14,000 feet.
