LU skaters to bring Christmas to LaHaye Ice Center tonight

Members of Liberty University's figure skating and synchronized skating teams will light up the LaHaye Ice Center rink tonight at 7:30 p.m. for the third Christmas Edition of the Lady Flames' annual "PraiseFest on Ice."
"We have about 40 performers this year, with a lot of overlap between the figure skating and synchronized skating teams," said Liberty synchronized skating Head Coach Tatiana Payne, who is directing the show with assistance from figure skating Head Coach Dawn Harter. "There will be some solos and some routines featuring skaters from both teams doing duets."
There will be 17 Christmas-themed programs in the two-hour show, which includes an intermission, with the synchronized skating team also performing its new Collegiate Division program entitled "Royal" that it debuted at the Cape Cod Classic last weekend in Massachusetts.
The show will also include routines featuring several Learn to Skate students who have trained under Payne and a few Lady Flames skaters.
Admission is free for Liberty residential students and $6 for the general public, with proceeds going toward spring travel expenses for both the Lady Flames' figure skating and synchronized skating teams.
