Lady Flames riders earn eight blue ribbons over weekend

Liberty University's women's equestrian team had eight riders win blue ribbons at two hunt seat events in North Carolina over the weekend, helping the Lady Flames to a fifth-place finish Saturday at High Point University and sixth-place showing Sunday at Elon University.
At High Point, juniors Rebecca Oldham, Heather Meade, and Cassandra Steptoe and freshman Michal White turned in first-place performances in their respective divisions before sophomores Leah Wright and Zoe Lepke and seniors Courtney Kerns and Annalise Luckey finished first at Elon.
"It was the best we've done so far," said Jim Arrigon, head coach of the Hunt Seat team and executive director of the Liberty Equestrian Center. "We were still fifth place out of 10 overall, but we're getting better."
Liberty's Hunt Seat team had placed eighth at its last show, Oct. 4 at Averett University, with Wright and junior Kendall Carter earning blue ribbons and Carter tying for the event's Champion Rider.
The Western team begins its season this Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C.
