Nicholas Thomason joined the Flames staff as an Assistant Cheerleading Coach in 2016 and was promoted to the program’s head coach in August 2021. In September 2022, he was named the Interim Dance Director for the new Club Sports Dance team as they continue to search for a new head coach.

Thomason has helped to transform the cheerleading program into a large co-ed cheerleading team, and to transition from the D1 Division to the D1A Division. During his time coaching, he has helped lead the program into the final round of UCA College Nationals twice, including a fourth-place finish for Cheer and third-place finish for Sparky in 2021. Thomason has staffed for Christian Cheerleaders of America since 2010, and for the Universal Cheerleading Association since 2011.

Thomason currently works at Liberty University as a Business Data Analyst and is pursuing a second master’s degree.
