Ben is responsible for the overall engagement of prospective student-athletes and alumni for Club Sports. This involves communicating with Club Sport coaches and the Admissions Office ensuring a successful recruitment process. Furthermore, this position is responsible for overseeing the Varsity Club; the alumni association specifically for former Club Sports student-athletes. The goal of the Varsity Club is to celebrate, honor and engage with our alumni through communications, volunteering, philanthropy, and experiences.
Since the inception of Hughes' role in recruitment, him and his staff have been a part of tremendous growth averaging a 13% increase in Club Sport student-athletes recruited to campus and streamlining Admission's support for Coaches. Along with recruitment, Hughes has his efforts set on the Varsity Club and the opportunities to engage with alumni and help Club Sports have a successful Giving Day. Representing over 2,000 former Club Sport student-athletes, being able to celebrate and honor the alumni is a cherished role for Hughes as he has been a part of inducting 13 alumni into the Club Sports Hall of Fame since 2017.
