Amy Talmadge holds a degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science from James Madison University. She has worked in the sports and fitness field in numerous venues, from personal training to coaching, teaching exercise classes, and nutritional and exercise education classes.
She has an extensive background in swimming which began at age 6 with summer speed swimming. She competed in summer speed swimming for 11 years in the Greater Richmond Aquatic league, followed by coaching a team she helped start in Short Pump for a few years. Amy competed in Synchronized Swimming up to the National level for 8 years. Amy has continued swimming and currently both swims and coaches for the 7 Hills Surge Master’s team. Amy hold her level 1 Masters’ swimming certification. Amy also has a background in multi sport and triathlon. Amy competed in (and won) her first local triathlon in 1995. She was the first female member of the InsideOut sports triathlon team in Richmond, Va in 1996. Amy began trail running after having children and moving to Lynchburg. She has competed in, and won, many local trail races in the Lynchburg and Roanoke areas.
Amy is the proud wife of a retired Army Veteran. She and her husband, Dan, have 4 fun and athletic children who play travel soccer as well as swim competitively in the summer. More than Amy likes accomplishing her own goals, she enjoys helping others achieve theirs. “Coaching is one of the most rewarding jobs you can have. You get to invest in other’s lives and help them reach their God-given potential.”
