Coach Childress started with the Taekwondo team in 2012 as the Assistant Coach and became the Head Coach in 2015. He began studying martial arts in 1984 earning his black sash in Wu Chun Su Kung Fu from Sifu Calvin Buck. Childress earned a black sash in Khalifia Kung Fu from Master Floyd Mims. He received his 1st Dan Taekwondo black belt from Jesse Wilson. Childress earned his 2nd Dan (kukkiwon) black belt from Master Robert Fujimura. Childress has also studied Shotokan Ryu, American Freestyle, and boxing. He has served as a police officer for over 25 years and as a Defensive Tactics instructor for over 20 years.
