Erica Cruz
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Erica has been shooting competitively for 15 years, having started at the age of 10 through her local junior rifle club. She shot for 4 years in the sporter category before graduating up to the precision team at the age of 14. Erica competed throughout her high school years, winning multiple silver and gold medals, and competed as an individual in the CMP Regional Matches in Camp Perry, Ohio her senior year. She then continued competing into her first two years of college as an adult, periodically volunteering at her local rifle club to help coach the junior athletes. After graduating with her B.S. in History from the University of Maryland, Erica decided to pursue her Master’s Degree at Liberty, where she was able to compete on the Liberty Rifle Team. Having only one year of competition eligibility as a grad student, Erica has decided to stay on the team as an Assistant Coach and is excited to share her passion for the sport by training more athletes to be champions for Christ.
Erica was born in Lynchburg, VA but was raised in Gaithersburg, MD from the age of 4. She attended a Christian private school from Kindergarten through 5th Grade, and then was homeschooled for middle and high school. She has a brother who also grew up competing in the rifle sport. Having grown up in the church and witnessing her parents’ loving, Christ-like examples, Erica has a passion for sharing the Gospel and shining Jesus’ light to those around her. She plays guitar and piano, and enjoys leading a praise team at her church. In addition to the shooting sports, Erica also played baseball and softball growing up, and was on the women’s softball team at Montgomery College for two seasons. She has a love for nature and animals, enjoys photography, and is passionate about history.
