Coaching since 2005 with the Flames, Associate Coach Jeff Boettger brings an extensive hockey background to LU’s coaching staff. After playing collegiate hockey at Bethel University from 1993-97, the defenseman spent two seasons (97-98, 98-99) with the ECHL’s Chesapeake Ice Breakers. The following year, Boettger continued his minor-league career in the Central Hockey League as a member of the San Antonio Iguanas.
At the end of the 2000 season, Boettger moved to Montreal where he served as Camp Director at Hockey Ministries International, overseeing numerous Christian hockey camps. Shortly before arriving at Liberty in 2005, the Alberta native returned to the ice, playing Division IV hockey in Germany, where he was part of the Bayernligue 2004 championship team - Rosenheim Starbulls.
In Jeff's coaching career he has seen the Men's D1 Hockey team reach National Rankings in 2004 (#4), 2020 (#2), and 2021 (#3), as well as the Men's D2 Hockey Team as National Runner-Up in 2006. His overall coaching record is 417 W - 176 L.
In addition to his coaching duties, Jeff serves as Senior Athletic Director in the Club Sports Department which oversees every Club Sport teams on campus. He provides leadership, oversight, planning and guidance to the department with a focus on team coaches, department liaisons, and department staff.
