The Flames will find out with the rest of the national field Tuesday where they will be seeded for the March 12-17 national championships near St. Louis.
Liberty University will host the 2026 ACHA Division I men's hockey National Championships selection show — when the field of 24 teams that will compete for the Murdoch Cup in this year's tournament will be revealed — on Tuesday at 9 p.m., streamed live on the ACHA website from the same studio in Green Hall where Flames Central is recorded weekly.
Produced in conjunction with the Liberty Broadcast Experience, the one-hour show will be hosted by Annie Cory from LBX with commentary from Club Sports Director of Video & Media Patrick Strawn, and Division II women's hockey Head Coach Jason Forth. All three are regulars on the Rock the Rink podcast produced weekly to promote Liberty's five hockey programs. As was the case last year — when the show, which debuted in 2013, was revived after a 12-year hiatus — they will be joined by Lou Gamelin, a hockey analyst from Michigan.
"It's always an exciting time when we get to showcase Liberty and talk about the rest of the league heading into postseason play," Strawn said. "The goal is to keep the league growing and to showcase the talent that the ACHA has to offer. It is also good live show training experience for all the students involved and another means of exposure for Liberty in general and for what (LBX) can do from a broadcast perspective."
In addition to divulging the 24 teams going to nationals, the show will feature interviews with select coaches and players from defending national champion UNLV, currently ranked No. 4, No. 1-ranked Minot State, No. 3 Ohio, No. 7 Jamestown (N.D.) University, No. 10 Calvin (Mich.) University, and No. 14 Hope (Mich.) College, as well as live videos of team watch parties and analysis and insight into the teams and first-round matchups. The broadcast will conclude with predictions by the on-air talent on the team each one believes will capture this year's Murdoch Cup.
Ranking No. 16 will be released immediately at the conclusion of the show, with the final ranking released at the end of the tournament, set for March 17-22.
The 2026 ACHA Men's Division I National Championships, presented by FloHockey, will be held for the third season in a row at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. This will be the fourth time that arena has hosted the tournament, and it will be the third year of the 24-team tournament format.
