The all-time leading scorer in MCLA Division I, Keaton Mohs helped pace the Flames to their first national championship in Round Rock, Texas, over Liberty’s Commencement Weekend.

As the catalyst of Liberty University's MCLA Division I national champion men's lacrosse team, it was no surprise that graduate attack Keaton Mohs was selected as the MCLA's DI National Player of the Year.
Mohs netted 56 goals and distributed 73 assists for 129 points, also picking up 55 ground balls and causing 26 turnovers in 20 games for the 19-1 Flames, who finished ranked No. 1 in the final MCLA DI Coaches Poll. During his five-year career at Liberty, Mohs emerged as the all-time leading scorer in MCLA DI with 191 goals and 171 assists for 362 total points in 77 games.
The Flames' two-year team captain earned four First Team All-Atlantic Lacrosse Conference accolades and four First Team All-American honors. He was a three-time All-MCLA DI Tournament Team honoree, including Tournament MVP this season after being named the ALC Tournament MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
"Keaton is the type of player that we model our program after, and the recognition that he's received is well-deserved," Liberty Associate Head Coach Mike Zumpano said. "He's a guy that we look for when we build a team. What he was able to accomplish over the past four years was unprecedented, setting a new standard and a new bar for what our program can achieve."
Mohs was joined on the All-MCLA DI First Team by fellow graduate attack Braden Landry (69G, 41A), graduate faceoff specialist Caleb Hammett (who won 333 out of 423 faceoffs), and senior defender Conor Guiltinan, the ALC Defensive Player of the Year.
Hammett became Liberty's first player to be invited to a Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) training camp. He spent a week in the Boston Cannons' camp after being selected to their 49-man training camp roster, which was ultimately cut down to 19 with Hammett not making the final cut.
Zumpano said Mohs, who is from Lakeville, Minn., could have played NCAA Division I lacrosse at Marquette (Wisc.) University, but instead "chose Liberty for all of the right reasons."
"He had a lot of potential to play at a high level, but when he came to campus for one of our (Flames Futures Summer) Camps years back and got a glimpse of how he could become a player of character and faith, that changed his outlook," he said. "He chose Liberty because he wanted faith to be an element of his life and his lacrosse journey. Because of that, God has rewarded him, and he now has a platform as the leading scorer in MCLA Division I history and the best player in Liberty Lacrosse history."
Mohs has been a trailblazer in his family as the oldest of three brothers.
"Throughout his career at Liberty, he has grown through some trials and embraced the challenges that he's faced," Zumpano said. "He has been a constant overcomer and has an incredible testimony of resilience and passion and faith."
He said Mohs is now looking to play indoor in the National Lacrosse League (NLL), an indoor box lacrosse winter league with 15 franchises all over the United States and Canada, or one of its farm systems. Next year, he may make a run at playing on a PLL summer league team, with that league now in its seventh season with eight franchises after purchasing Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
"He will be able to share and represent his faith in the highest levels of the sport and to wear his Christian values on his chest," Zumpano said.
