Future Flames and Lady Flames players can get jump starts on their hockey careers and familiarize themselves with Liberty's campus through three-day hockey camps.
The camps will kick off with a session from June 12-14 for Mites (born 2017-18), Squirts (2015-16), and Peewee (2013-14) boys. That will be followed by a Bantam Boys Camp from June 16-18 for players born between 2011-12, a U16 Boys Development Camp (2009-10) from June 20-22, and a U18 Boys Development Camp (2007-2008) from June 24-26.
The Girls Camp open to U8 (2017-2018), U10 (2015-2016), U12 (2013-2014), U14 (2011-2012), and U17 (2009-2010) girls is set for June 26-28.Â
"We are really excited to bring new young hockey players to Liberty for the first time and to get previous players back again and see how those guys and girls have developed their games," Club Sports Recruitment & Summer Planning Coordinator Brett Berthiaume said. "Our main goal is to help these young athletes develop on and off the ice. That will come through instruction by our coaching staff as well as counselors and other staff members we have set in place to help these athletes grow both spiritually and athletically."
He noted the biggest change to this year's schedule is the addition of the Mites, Squirts, and Peewees age groups to the girls camp as those players previously were forced to play in co-ed sessions during the boys camp.
"We are looking forward to having these players grow in their hockey skills and in their faith, so that they're able to use their gifts in hockey to help serve as a platform for sharing Christ as they go on their way to their respective teams and organizations after the Liberty Hockey Summer Camps end," Berthiaume said.
