Flames lead U.S. men’s hockey to semifinals at Winter World University Games

Team USA got contributions from all five Liberty DI men's players in Italy during a 12-3 rout of South Korea in Sunday's quarterfinals.
Liberty University ACHA Division I men's hockey sophomore forward Ryan Finch netted a hat trick, freshman forward Michael DeBrito recorded two goals, senior forward Jacob Kalandyk contributed a goal and two assists, junior defenseman Laz Kaebel added an assist and sophomore goalie Konrad Kausch earned the win in net as Team USA ousted Japan, 12-3, in Sunday's quarterfinal round of the FISU Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy.
Meanwhile, Team Canada dominated Japan, 9-1, in another quarterfinal contest and advances to meet Team USA in Tuesday's semifinal, set for 2 p.m. EST. Ukraine will challenge Slovakia in Tuesday's first semifinal at 10 a.m. EST.
The losers and winners of those games will play in Wednesday's consolation and championship contests, respectively, set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. EST.
In the women's tournament, after going 1-2 in its pool, Team USA, featuring Lady Flames senior forwards and captains Brielle Fussy and Haley Battles, dominated Great Britain, 14-0 on Friday and Kazakhstan 8-2 in Sunday's fifth-place game.
