Versatility is a strength of Victoria Khou’s game, as she could play center or wing on a forward line or even on defense for Liberty.
Victoria Khou, an 18-year-old forward who played Juniors hockey for the Sky Canyon Predators in Utah before playing for NCAA Division III Nichols (Mass.) College this past season, will transfer into Liberty University to join the ACHA Division I women's hockey team this fall.
''Victoria came to visit in February and got to experience Liberty and spend some time with the girls," Lady Flames Head Coach Christ Lowes said. "I am confident Victoria makes us a better team and that she will excel in all areas — spiritually, athletically, academically, and socially."
Khou signs her Liberty letter of commitment.
A versatile player with many talents, Khou was awarded the 2023 Tim Hixon Memorial Scholarship, given to the most well-rounded Utah high school hockey players as a senior at Cache High School in Logan, Utah. She was named assistant captain of the Predators' boys varsity team and was selected for the All-Star game as a defenseman after scoring eight goals and distributing 11 assists in 15 games.
"Victoria is a strong player who will bring talent and experience to our team and reinforce a smaller freshman class in our locker room," Lowes said. "Victoria has the skill set to play center or wing, and could play defense if we needed. She sees the ice well, has a good touch and vision, and plays with grit."
She expects to experience a smooth transition to the ACHA DI game and make an impact quickly to help the Lady Flames pursue a seventh national championship next spring.
"After already having a year of college hockey under my belt, I am super excited to continue my career at Liberty," Khou said. "I feel like I have a good understanding of the game and stay composed under pressure. I'm excited to win games, make new memories and contribute as much as possible."
At Nichols, Khou was selected as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week midway through the fall semester of her freshman season.
Khou said the spiritual environment within the Lady Flames' program and on campus at Liberty is what led to her decision to transfer in for her sophomore year.
"I chose Liberty because of the amazing opportunity to be around other Christ-minded individuals and play a high level of collegiate hockey," she said. "I fell in love with the campus instantly, and their team culture was exactly what I was looking for and aligns with my values."
