Heading into this Saturday’s Atlantic Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Final Four at Lynchburg City Stadium, Liberty University’s men’s lacrosse team, ranked No. 4 in last week’s MCLA Coaches’ Poll, is seeded first in the (ALC) North Region with No. 2-ranked Virginia Tech the top seed out of the ALC South.
The Flames (12-2) will meet Tennessee (9-5), a 16-11 winner over North Carolina State in Saturday’s ALC South play-in game, for the first time this season this Saturday at 3 p.m. The Hokies (12-2), who dealt Liberty the first of its two losses on the season, will face Temple (9-5) in the second semifinal game at 5:30 p.m. The Owls defeated West Virginia in Sunday’s South Region play-in game in Morgantown, W.Va., 8-7, after losing the regular-season clash with the Mountaineers in Philadelphia.
“They flipped the script,” Liberty Head Coach Kyle McQuillan said of Temple, which advanced to the ALC Final Four for the first time along with Tennessee. “That’s good for those programs to earn their spot.”
The winners of Saturday’s semifinals will meet in Sunday’s 3 p.m. championship game, with the champion receiving an autobid to the May 8-13 MCLA National Championships in Round Rock, Texas,.
All three games will be streamed live on YouTube by LacrosseTV.
“We are using a new broadcast production company, with Dan Zumpano, a familiar voice in the booth (for PA announcing and ESPN+) who does a great job for us, working with the crew,” McQuillan said. “We are looking forward to showcasing the conference and our team.”
