
Racquetball teams hold their own at MACRC Tournament hosted by Tar Heels

Liberty University's men's and women's racquetball teams posted strong showings at their first MACRC tournament of the spring semester, Friday through Sunday at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Flames senior Trevor Melton won the Division I men's bracket and teamed with graduate Garrison Walker, who had placed third in singles, to finish first in the men's Division 1-2 doubles bracket as well.
Graduate Zachary Cary joined forces with junior Luke Hagberg to win the Division 3 Gold division and freshman Nathaniel Cook partnered with Matthew Cook to capture first place in the Division 4 doubles draw. Malachi Aviles also won the Division 3 Red bracket, while playing with Alex Velikovich from the University of Virginia.
Junior Timothy Adams and Andrew Cook finished fourth in the Division 1-2 doubles division before placing second and fourth, respectively, in Division 2 singles. Cary and Hagberg finished second and third, respectively, in Division 3 Gold singles and Aviles won the Division 3 White singles bracket while Matthew Cook and Nathaniel Cook finished 1-2 in Division 4 Gold singles.
In women's action, Paige Jordan joined junior Sylvia Growden to win the Division 3-4 doubles draw while freshman Natalie Blank teamed with Katie Barrett from a competing college program to finish fifth. Growden placed third in Division 3 Gold singles and Blank took third in Division 4 singles play.
The Flames and Lady Flames will conclude MACRC Tournament play March 3-5 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.
