Since its renovation before the 2015-16 season, on the 10th anniversary of its construction, the LaHaye Ice Center (LIC) has emerged as one of the finest facilities in the nation to watch collegiate hockey at any level. That assessment was confirmed by the Hockey House Podcast, which has more than 6,000 followers on its Instagram page, announcing over the weekend that Liberty was the "undisputed champion" in its "Battle of the Barns" competition.
"Congratulations to the Liberty Flames and the LaHaye Ice Center on being voted the best place to play in the ACHA," the Hockey House Podcast hosts said in their Instagram post, which has received more than 1,000 likes in just two days. "Thank you to everyone who voted, we're beyond excited to see fans back in the stands this season."
The Flames, who opened their 2021-22 season with half-capacity crowds due to COVID restrictions in their Sept. 17 and 18 victories over Indiana University of Pennsylvania and North Carolina State, return to the LIC this weekend with games against Michigan-Dearborn on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 11:59 p.m., the first of three Midnight Mayhem matchups on their home schedule.
Single-game tickets, ranging from $6-10, are available through Liberty's ticket office website. Season ticket packages, offering nearly 50-percent savings, are also on sale for the remaining 18 home games.
