Isabella Hervert, a forward and defenseman from McKees Rocks, Pa., is the final committed recruit for the 2021-22 season for Liberty University's three-time-defending ACHA Division I national championship women's hockey team.
"Isabella is a player that can fill a number of roles for us and is a great fit here at Liberty," Lady Flames Head Coach Chris Lowes said. "She can play forward or defense, but we envision her playing up front to begin her career at LU. She is a quick skater with good vision on the ice, and should be able to put herself in dangerous spots on the ice to contribute offensively."
In recent seasons, Hervert played for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Girls AAA U19 squad as well as on the Montour High School (Pa.) Spartans boys varsity hockey team

"I am a versatile player who can play offensive or defensive," said Hervert, who is a five-time USA Hockey National Championship participant, USA Hockey-certified student ice hockey coach, and a Learn to Skate/Learn to Play instructor. "I bring skill, passion, positive attitude, and high energy and hockey IQ to the game. Offensively, I utilize speed and a heavy shot to keep opponents off balance. Defensively, I am physical in front of my own net, win battles against the boards, and skilled at moving the puck up ice."
Hervert, who plans to major in mathematics education, is excited to start training to be a Champion for Christ at Liberty while playing competitive hockey for the Lady Flames and competing with her teammates for a fourth consecutive national championship.
"I chose Liberty because of the competitive athletic program and limitless academic opportunities," she said. "When I visited the campus, I met the coaching staff, interacted with the students, and experienced the Christ-centered culture. I instantly knew Liberty was the path for my academic, athletic, and spiritual future."
Lowes expects great things from Hervert and the rest of the incoming class of recruits in the near future.
"We have been following Isabella's development and had the opportunity to spend some time with her during two campus visits this past year," he said. "We believe that Isabella will find success here at LU and represent our program in all areas on and off the ice. We have a great incoming freshman class and are excited to get everyone here on campus and begin the journey as a team."
