Liberty University's Hunt Seat equestrian team recorded its highest point total of the season (41) to win Sunday's Region 4 show hosted by Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., and move into a tie with Randolph-Macon College for second place in the season standings with 101 points.
The Lady Flames pulled away from RMC (35 points), Mary Washington (31), Sweet Briar College (29), William & Mary (29), Virginia Commonwealth (23), and Christopher Newport (19) to capture the team title.

Liberty's blue ribbon winners in the one-day event at ODU were junior Kendall Burdette in the Open Flat division, junior Isabella Cruz in Intermediate Flat, sophomore Amber Gayheart in Intermediate Fences, freshman Brooke Boan in Walk-Trot-Canter, and sophomores Sarah Reece and junior Ryan Wambolt in Walk-Trot.
Gayheart and Wambolt qualified for the Region 4 Championships to be held in late February.
Second-place finishers included Burdette in Open Fences, sophomore April Simmonds in Open Flat, senior Emily Chaffins in Walk-Trot-Canter, and sophomore Leah Brittin in Walk-Trot-Canter.
Liberty and Randolph trail only Sweet Briar College (103 points) going into this Saturday's show hosted by the University of Richmond in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
"We are hoping to score high enough to take the team lead and also to qualify a couple more of our riders for the Regional final in the individual divisions," Hunt Seat Head Coach Suzanne Flaig said.

A little rain didn't deter Liberty's Hunt Seat team from showing well and having fun at Old Dominion.
